“We were greeted by the friendly smiling faces of the New Brunswick tourist board which didn’t seem anything out of the ordinary but looking back it was a sure sign of things to come.
A representative from VIA Rail Canada introduced the sponsors of the evening and we were given another friendly welcome from New Brunswick Canada tourist board and a brief overview as to why New Brunswick is an absolute must.
Lisa Gagnon only had the stage for a few minutes but in that time she captivated us with talk of whale watching, endless coastlines, magnificent glaciers and the (bordering on bizarre) Hopewell Rocks.
Then the music part of the entertainment, David Myles and his band, arrived on the stage and to say that we were blown away is an understatement!
The band are all New Brunswick born and bred and a shining example of the warmth of the Canadian community.
Despite landing that afternoon and being jet lagged their performance was incredible. With flashes of Johnny Cash to their music the bluegrass tone soon got our toes tapping too.
Their first song was about needing a break, which seemed very apt for us considering our new Guided Walking holiday to Nova Scotia, Newfoundland New Brunswick is already proving very popular.
See a video of them perform on our Facebook page.
Our jaws were on the floor for their entire performance, it felt like we were being serenaded by these three handsome musicians and David also made us chuckle and swoon with his friendly and self-deprecating style.
It was an amazing night of music and hospitality and it just made us want to experience everything that New Brunswick has to offer!”
Thanks to Harriet and Sarah for their tale of New Brunswick music, it sounds like a brilliant evening.
